Our Commitment to Health
Every breeding dog in our program undergoes comprehensive health testing before being approved for breeding. We test for genetic conditions common in dachshunds to reduce the risk of hereditary diseases in our puppies.
IVDD Testing
Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) is the most common health concern in dachshunds. We perform genetic testing to identify the risk factors and only breed dogs with low-risk profiles.

Genetic markers associated with IVDD predisposition
Testing Method:
DNA testing through OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)

PRA Testing
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is a genetic eye condition that can lead to blindness. We test all breeding dogs to ensure they are clear of this condition.
What We Test For:
PRA cord1 and PRA crd4 genetic markers
Testing Method:
DNA testing through AKC/CHF approved laboratories

Patella Evaluation
Luxating patella (kneecap displacement) can cause lameness and discomfort. All breeding dogs receive orthopedic evaluation.
What We Test For:
Patellar luxation grades 0-4
Testing Method:
Veterinary orthopedic examination
✓ All breeding dogs grade 0 or 1
Cardiac Evaluation
Heart health is essential for a long, active life. We perform cardiac evaluations to screen for congenital heart conditions.
What We Test For:
Heart murmurs, congenital defects, cardiac function
Testing Method:
Board-certified cardiologist auscultation and echocardiogram
